Bio
The 80´s!
Berlin, known for its wild and crazy underground mileu, holds one of the biggest and punkiest Psychobilly scenes. Endless speed parties, sex, drugs, crazy hairs and crazy outfits, fights with cops, gangs and other subcultures are the daily routine! Out of that times in 1987 MAD SIN got born. Koefte deVille (just kicked outta school) on stand drums/vox, Stein (livin´ on dole money) on guitar and Holly on slap bass came together to become one of the biggest bands in the punkabilly genre! The lack of money made ´em play rockabilly, country and punkrock (which they always been big fans of) in the streets of Berlin. That paid their daily booze, parties and the practice room where they started playing straight forward psycho and punkabilly!
Koeftes scene reputation got them easily shows and festivals with bands like the Guana Batz ,The Meteors , The Toy Dolls and their buddies and partners in crime Demented Are Go!! All that led 'em to their first record deal in 88 where they`ve got badly ripped off and signed their souls for 3 more albums! Their first album "Chills And Thrills" was a big success and brought them international stardom in the underground and the chance to tour and gig all over Europe!
Their following releases "Distorted Dimensions" in 1990 "Break The Rules" 1991 and "Ticket Into Underworld" 1993 (all the best songs of that raw and early period can be heard on PLU release "Young Dumb and Snotty") made their following grew bigger and bigger!! The shows became wilder as Koefte deVille gave the drumstix to a drummer and started to sang and go apeshit not only on stage! They toured hard and been hated by every promoter for their backstage and hotel parties and Koeftes prison stops!!
All that left them 2 choices : (1) to break up cause nobody wanted to book them anymore or (2) to take things more serious !!!They went for 2 and all that crazy experiences showed them how NOT to do it anymore! Mr. Excessiv is still Koeftes and Steins middlename but in smaller doses!
In 1996 they took a big step and released "God Save The Sin" truly a classic punkabilly album with influences like ska, hardcore, country´, hardrock and more social critical words and a wilder live show with fire spitting etc. That made them tour with bands like Faith No More, Gwar, Misfits etc.
Now even major labels registered MAD SIN and 1998 they released "Sweet & Innocent" on the Polydor label (rereleased on PLY). After touring Japan and Europe and playing in most of big rock festivals with Die Ärzte, Bad Religion, Rancid, Turbo Negro, Die Toten Hosen etc. the label and the band decided to split.
The MAD SIN boys could not cooperate with that mainstream music industry even though the album sold a great amount of copies. They paid the band a big deal of money just to make them leave. .. ha ha! Now it was the time to bigger the sound and the show. So they got a second guitar to bring the band to its perfect.
In 2001 they signed with the PLY label and released in 2002 their till then biggest album "Survival Of The Sickest". That was a huge success and brought them sold out shows all over Europe, the US especially the West Coast and Japan. They played more than 300 shows between 2002 - 2004 and proofed that nothing can stop MAD SIN and their loyal following THE SINDICATE (Psychobillies, Punx and Skins, Hardcores, Greaser, Skater and Rockers of all kind).
Now after one year of work they release the long awaited album "DEAD MOON´S CALLING". A new level has been reached musicaly (Johnny Cash on speed next to the Clash on amphetamine without loosing the psycho punkabilly focus) The lyrics are spiked with metaphors and double meanings of Koeftes very own sarcastic view on this sick world. With special guests like "Rancid"´s Lars Frederiksen, Patricia of the "Horror Pops" they are ready to kick more ass. This album is outstanding and a must for everyone who likes it loud and wild but likes also J. Cash and movie soundtracks.
Enjoy ... say you love the sin ... there is much more to come!!!
